  1. The essentials:

  3.    FastLife requires a Color Graphics Adaptor or compatable video board.
  4.    A Microsoft compatable mouse is fully supported if present and HIGHLY
  5.    recommended:  the Game of Life was made for a mouse.
  6.  
  7.    Start FastLife by typing "FASTLIFE<ret>" at the DOS prompt.

  9.    Commands are selected by typing the first (capitalized) letter of
  10.    command word shown in the menu area.

  12.    To enter cells with the mouse, point to the desired location in the 
  13.    magnify area and press the LEFT button.  Move the magnification
  14.    by pointing to the desired location in the life field and pressing
  15.    the RIGHT button.  With the keyboard, position the magnify cursor
  16.    with the arrow keys and press the INS key.

  18.    The <name>.fl files are saved life images.  To try them out, clear the
  19.    life field with the 'Xtra-Clear' command, then 'Read-Absolute' and 
  20.    select from the list of files by typing the letter(s) of the file you
  21.    want to try out.  'Go' will start the lifecycles.

  23. Documentation at this point is sketchy.  Complete information on how to use
  24. the program can be viewed by selecting the 'Help' command, but it is highly
  25. abbreviated.  Mostly, have fun exploring!
